Phase 1 Hip & Sciatica protocol
This protocol focuses on offloading the hip joint and reducing neural tension. It is designed for the initial management of Sciatica, Labral tears, and Piriformis Syndrome.
Clinical Objective
To create "joint space" within the acetabulum and promote neural sliding, reducing the "catching" or "shooting" sensations common in hip and nerve injuries.
Daily Protocol
Frequency: 2 sessions per day.
Recommended Gear: Axis Sciatica & Labral Stabilizer (Wear during all walking or standing activities to provide mechanical confidence).
1. Pelvic Tilts (Neural Offloading)
- Action: Lie on your back with knees bent. Gently flatten the small of your back against the floor by bracing your core.
- Hold: 5 seconds. Reps: 10.
- Why: This movement decompresses the lower lumbar nerve roots where sciatic pain often originates.

2. Gentle Knee-to-Chest (Labral Clearance)
- Action: While wearing the Axis Sciatica Stabilizer, slowly pull one knee toward your chest until a light, pain-free stretch is felt in the glute.
- Hold: 10 seconds. Reps: 5 per side.
- Why: Helps circulate synovial fluid and offloads the anterior hip labrum.

3. Seated Nerve Glides (Neural Mobility)
- Action: Sit tall on a chair. Slowly straighten your knee until you feel a very light "tug" behind the leg. Flex your foot toward you, then point it away.
- Reps: 10 glides per leg.
- Why: Encourages the sciatic nerve to move smoothly through its pathway without over-stretching sensitive tissue.

When to Progress?
You are ready for Phase 2: Dynamic Hip Stability when:
- You can sit for 30 minutes without "shooting" nerve pain.
- The "catching" sensation in the hip joint has significantly decreased.
- You can perform a gentle knee-to-chest movement with full, pain-free range.
